Description
Patriot Ordnance Factory CMR REVOLUTION 16.5” DGI carbine (direct gas version):
POF-USA (Patriot Ordnance Factory) is an American manufacturer based in Arizona. Its founder, Frank DeSomma is both a passionate sports shooter and a designer of parts for the aeronautics. Initially focused on the creation of an AR-15 equipped with a piston mechanism that has made the reputation of the brand for 15 years, POF-USA now offers several direct gas models in its range.
The CMR Revolution rifle is a…revolutionary creation! Indeed, contrary to all previous attempts to miniaturize the AR-10, Patriot Ordnance Factory succeeded in making a rifle chambered in 308 Win in the format of an AR-15 (with equal barrel length!). This feat required 2 years of research and development. The weapon is not only compact but it is also very light: at a time when the AR-15 in 223 are increasingly light, this model is right in the current high range, that is to say 3kg to 3,3Kg according to the model, which is particularly noteworthy considering it’s chambered in 308 Win. This was made possible by the use of special high-strength alloys for the most stressed parts such as the mobile cylinder head.
The ergonomics of the AR-15 have been retained because although POF was forced to move the percussion mechanism and therefore the safety back to make room for the magazine well sized for the 308, it also moved the pistol grip back , therefore the relationship between the thumb and the safety is unchanged, as is the access to the other control organs.
The recoil, thanks to its optimized gas borrowing system, the low mass of its breech/carrier assembly, and its 3-chamber compensator, is comparable to an AR-15 in 223 which would be overgassed, and can also be compared to a AR-15 in 300 AAC BLACKOUT.
Its accuracy, comparable to a good bolt-action rifle, is less than one minute of angle (average of 22mm grouping for 5 shots fired at 100m by a team independent of the manufacturer with several cartridges of different brands).
The weapon has won several awards, including “Rifle of the Year 2019” by the ICA (Industry Choice Award).
Other innovations and features unusual for an AR-15 have been incorporated into this weapon to improve reliability and longevity. For example, the barrel chamber has 4 grooves to reduce the stresses suffered by the extractor, but these are only present at the level of the collar, unlike the usual grooved chambers, which means that the casings which can be easily reloaded are not affected. . These grooves allow the extractor to last 5 times longer (this improvement is not new in principle but it is unique in this form on an AR-15).
The barrel nut, with its length of 76mm and its 20 longitudinal grooves, makes it possible to reduce the temperature at the level of the chamber.
You will find further innovations in the features below.
The control organs of this model are completely ambidextrous (see detail below).
Characteristics:
– AR-15 type semi-automatic rifle with direct gas borrowing chambered in 308 Win. (unique model in the world: it is neither an AR-10 nor a reduced AR-10)
– Match barrel with 5 stripes, length 16.5” (41.9cm), in CrMoV 4150 steel protected from wear and corrosion by nitriding.
– Barrel at 1/10” pitch.
– The accuracy of the weapon is less than or equal to one minute of angle (1 MOA = 29mm at 100m), with quality ammunition (manufactured or reloaded).
– “Dictator” gas fret adjustable to 9 positions.
– 3-chamber POF compensator, protected by nitriding (standard thread 5/8”x24tpi).
– Gen 4 casing, with ambidextrous control organs,
– The carcass includes a Teflon BTR screw to eliminate any play that may exist with the receiver.
– The carrier is coated with nickel with a high phosphorus content (corrosion resistance 5 times higher than standard nickel plating) and the cylinder head is hard chrome plated.
– Conveyor key machined in the mass of the conveyor with stainless steel tube reported by interlocking then pinned (which avoids the 2 usual fixing screws).
– Cam follower equipped with a rotating ring acting as a bearing (which greatly limits the stresses undergone by the cylinder head box at this location)
– The cam follower is hard chrome-plated, and its rotating ring is coated NP3 (nickel- teflon).
– Type III MilSpec anodizing on receiver, receiver, and handguard.
– Ultra-lightweight (*) 14.5” POF Renegade floating handguard equipped with the M-LOK system (* 20% lighter than the previous generation).
– The handguard is equipped with 4 anchors for the ball strap attachment system (2 on each side).
– 76mm long POF barrel nut acts as a radiator to dissipate heat from the chamber (17 times more efficient than the original military barrel nut).
– MFT ”Minimalist” telescopic stock (Mission First Tactical) with an ambidextrous anchorage for ball sling attachment system.
– POF buttstock tube, with 7 positions, designed to avoid tipping of the carrier (present on all models, but especially useful for piston models to prevent premature wear of the buttstock tube).
– Completely ambidextrous breech stopper (both for the action of releasing the breech and for locking it back manually).
– Ambidextrous safety and magazine pusher.
– Non-adjustable Match POF direct trigger (tared at approximately 2Kg).
– Hammer, trigger, and separator in A2 tool steel machined by electro-erosion, then protected from wear and corrosion by double nitriding.
– Stainless steel hammer pins and KNS trigger (these pins cannot accidentally come out of their housings or turn on themselves).
– Ambidextrous POF Tomahawk cocking lever.
– Mission First Tactical pistol grip.
– Widened trigger guard, machined in the mass of the carcass.
– Weight: 3090 grams.
– Length: 86.36cm (stock retracted)
– Delivered in a case with a 20-round magazine.
– Delivered without sights.
– Caliber: 308 Win. (7.62×51)
– Chambering: 308 Win. (Match room).
– Made in USA (for all component parts)
– Weapon classified in category B2.
