Description
Knight’s Armament SR-15 E3 CARBINE MOD 2 M-LOK – 14.5”
Knight’s Armament is a prestigious manufacturer of AR15 family rifles and shotguns.
Eugene Stoner himself (the creator of the AR10 and by extension the AR15/M16/M4 family) joined Knight’s Armament during the last years of his career to finalize his creation in the form of the SR15, SR16 and SR25 ( became the M110 adopted by the US Army). The initials “SR” stand for “Stoner Rifle”.
The SR15 is the civilian version of the SR16. It has many improvements intended to carry this platform into the 21st century. The weapon has ambidextrous control devices (bolt catch and magazine pusher), the cocking lever being already ambidextrous on this type of weapon.
As a reminder, the casing deflector located on the receiver of an AR15/M16 was designed so that the weapon can be used by a left-handed person without any discomfort. The very special floating handguard gives the upper assembly the rigidity of a monolithic system.
An excellent match trigger manufactured by Knight’s Armament is fitted as standard.
Knight’s Armament SR-15 E3 CARBINE MOD 2 M-LOK – 14.5”:
Main characteristics (non-contractual photo, see details below) :
- Semi-automatic rifle with direct gas borrowing.
- Fitted with the new MOD 2 gas borrow collar fixed not by pins, but by a removable nut from the front of the barrel.
- Longer gas system to soften the recoil of the weapon and therefore the recovery.
- Mogul match trigger (double-stage) designed for intensive use (it has moreover been adopted by the American army for its longevity on the M110)
- 14.5” cold hammered barrel chambered in 5.56 NATO, CMV steel phosphated externally and chromed internally (1:7” pitch)
- Knight’s Armament barrels are forged in the USA from special steel with superior MilSpec strength and durability.
- The rifling pitch of 1 turn in 7” makes it possible to stabilize the MK262 or any other cartridge equipped with a 77 grain projectile as well as all other conventional cartridges with a lighter projectile.
- Body, receiver and picatinny handguard in 7075T6 aeronautical alloy machined from forged parts.
- KAC flash hider on standard 1/2″x28Tpi thread.
- “E3” cylinder head whose locking lugs are radiused to eliminate any incipient breakage (this cylinder head has a life expectancy 4 times greater than an M16 or M4 cylinder head). Although this cylinder head is specific, an SR15 nevertheless accepts a standard cylinder head in case of force majeure.
- The cylinder head has an improved extractor with 2 springs for optimal reliability.
- The “lower” (the frame) is compatible with AR15 conversions whose dimensions are MilSpec.
- The “upper” (barreled action) is compatible with all AR15 receivers whose dimensions are MilSpec.
- The barrel extension and the breech box feature the M4 type feed ramps.
- The cocking lever features an oversized latch.
- The closing assistance button is retained.
- Ambidextrous safety and magazine pusher (however compatibility with original AR15 parts is retained)
The new URX 4 floating picatinny handguard is octagonal with a Picatinny top rail and 7 faces machined to M-LOK standard to attach accessories. - The handguard is very long (13”) and allows all grips, including the outstretched arm at the end of the handguard, moreover its section is small and provides an exceptional grip.
- The handguard is one piece and constitutes the barrel nut, giving the assembly the rigidity of a monolithic system.
- MilSpec Type III anodizing on frame, receiver, and forearm.
- Many quick ball sling attachment points (3 on each side of the weapon)
- Telescopic stock: model according to availability.
- Pistol grip: model according to availability.

NOTE concerning the M-LOK system:
The M-LOK standard was developed by MAGPUL to quickly attach an accessory to a handguard with the following advantages:
– obtaining a smaller diameter handguard to improve grip.
– to be able to fix the accessory from the outside without a part to be positioned inside the handguard
– to be able to create a handguard in synthetic material which would not be weakened by this system (although most of them are made of aluminium)
– have a positioning accuracy after disassembly/reassembly at least as good as the Picatinny/NAR standard.
– This standard is free of rights and any manufacturer can integrate it into its production without paying royalties to MAGPUL.
