ALG Defense EMR V2 M-LOK Handguard – 15” BLACK
The EMR V2 (or V3) handguard is manufactured by Geissele for ALG Defense (a company run by Bill Geissele’s wife).
The initial goal was to create a handguard that was less expensive than the Geissele handguards, but without compromising on its strength and rigidity. To achieve this result, Bill Geissele simplified the system for attaching the handguard to the barrel nut, which greatly reduced its machining time. The aesthetics of these models is more IPSC oriented (Tir Sportif de Vitesse in France) and allows a modern grip with the weak hand located at the front of the handguard and the thumb surrounding the upper part of it. It is part of a range of quality that has no competitor in this price range.

• Very long barrel nut: 50mm (compared to 21.6mm for a stock barrel nut and often less than 40mm for most other proprietary barrel nuts).
• This allows a much more rigid connection and makes the whole much more solid in the event of an impact at the end of the handguard.
• The technology used to make the barrel nut is the same as some NASCAR car transmission parts.
• The handguard is firmly fixed to the barrel nut by 6 large diameter BTR screws.
• Once the ALG barrel nut is fixed on the weapon, the user can easily install and remove the handguard using the 6 BTR screws, but also change the handguard to go from a V2 to a V3 for example.
• Includes 2 anchors for ball-and-socket quick coupler.
• 2 anti-rotation tenons are present at the back of the handguard.
• A set of shim washers is delivered to correctly index the barrel nut.
• A special key is delivered with the handguard, this one having the particularity of not requiring a dynamometric wrench because it has marks to be used in conjunction with the set of shim washers delivered. It therefore makes it possible to apply the correct tightening torque and the correct indexing at the same time (a steel tube is just necessary to serve as a handle for the key.)

NOTES concerning the M-LOK system:
The M-LOK standard was developed by MAGPUL to quickly attach an accessory to a handguard with the following advantages:
– obtaining a smaller diameter handguard to improve grip.
– to be able to fix the accessory from the outside without a part to be positioned inside the handguard
– to be able to create a handguard in synthetic material which would not be weakened by this system (although most of them are made of aluminium)
– have positioning accuracy after disassembly/reassembly at least as good as standard Picatinny/NAR.
– This standard is free of rights and any manufacturer can integrate it into its production without paying royalties to MAGPUL.
– The M-LOK system was adopted in early 2017 by the USSOCOM because it proved to be the strongest system during their tests.
