Description
Conversion Knight’s Armament SR-30 MOD 2 M-LOK – 9.5”:
Knight’s Armament is a prestigious manufacturer of AR15 family rifles and shotguns.
Eugene Stoner himself (the creator of the AR10 and by extension the AR15/M16/M4 family) joined Knight’s Armament during the last years of his career to finalize his creation in the form of the SR15, SR16 and SR25 ( became the M110 adopted by the US Army). The initials ”SR” stand for ”Stoner Rifle”.
The SR-30 is the version chambered in 300 AAC BLACKOUT of the SR-15 which is itself the civilian version of the SR16. It features many improvements designed to carry the AR-15 platform into the 21st century.
Its very particular floating handguard gives the upper assembly the rigidity of a monolithic system.
Main features:
– Semi-automatic direct throttle conversion for AR-15 (compatible with AR-15 dimensionally MilSpec).
– Fitted with the new MOD 2 gas borrow collar fixed not by pins, but by a removable lock nut from the front of the barrel.
– Longer gas system to soften the recoil of the weapon and therefore the recovery.
– 9.5” cold hammered barrel chambered in 300 AAC BLACKOUT, CMV steel phosphated externally and chromed internally (1:7” pitch)
– Barrels are forged in the USA by Knight’s Armament from a special steel French with strength and longevity exceeding the MilSpec standard.
– The rifling pitch of 1 turn in 7″ makes it possible to stabilize the projectiles of 208, 220 and 240gr subsonic as well as the lighter supersonic projectiles.
– Cylinder head box in aeronautical alloy 7075T6 machined from a forged part.
– Cache -KAC flame on standard 5/8″x24Tpi thread.
– “E3″ cylinder head whose locking lugs are radiused to eliminate any incipient breakage (this cylinder head has a life expectancy 4 times greater than an M16 or M4 cylinder head). Although this cylinder head is specific, an SR30 nevertheless accepts a standard cylinder head in case of force majeure.
– The cylinder head has an improved extractor fitted with 2 springs for optimum reliability.
– This conversion is compatible with all AR15 receivers whose dimensions are MilSpec.
– Barrel extension and breech box feature M4 type feed ramps.
– The cocking lever has an oversized bolt.
– The closing assistance button is retained.
– The new URX 4 floating picatinny handguard is octagonal with a Picatinny top rail and 7 faces machined to M-LOK standard to attach accessories.
– The 8.75” handguard, with a small section, provides exceptional grip.
– The handguard is one piece and constitutes the barrel nut, giving the assembly the rigidity of a monolithic system.
– Type III MilSpec anodizing on receiver, receiver, and handguard.
– 2 ball quick release sling attachment points (1 on each side of the handguard)
– Caliber: 7.62×35 (300 AAC Blackout).
– Weight: 1.7 kg
– Length: 47cm
– Length of a weapon fitted with this conversion: approximately 68cm (stock retracted, if a Magpul CTR or MOE stock is used).
– Delivered with:
– a folding handlebar in aluminum and stainless steel Knight’s Armament adjustable in height without tools.
– a folding eyepiece in stainless steel Knight’s Armament adjustable in the 2 axes and calibrated up to 600m.
– Made in USA (for all component parts)
– Conversion classified in category B5 (out of quota).
Notes concerning the M-LOK system:
The M-LOK standard was developed by MAGPUL to quickly attach an accessory to a handguard with the following advantages:
– obtaining a smaller diameter handguard to improve grip.
– be able to fix the accessory from the outside without a part to be positioned inside the handguard
– be able to create a handguard in synthetic material which would not be weakened by this system (although most are made of aluminium)
– have a positioning accuracy after disassembly/reassembly at least as good as the Picatinny/NAR standard.
– This standard is free of rights and any manufacturer can integrate it into its production without paying royalties to MAGPUL.
Notes on the caliber 300 AAC Blackout (official diminutive: 300 BLK):
– compatible with 223 Rem./5.56 NATO magazines (identical capacity).
– base identical to the 223 Rem (compatible with the same cylinder heads)
– socket manufactured by several major manufacturers.
– possibility of making the 300 BLK casing from the 223 Rem casing. or the 221 Fireball.
– uses a .308″ caliber projectile (very large choice of projectiles)
– semi-automatic operation guaranteed even in subsonic (with heavy bullets)
– cartridge derived from the 300 Whisper but free of rights (all manufacturers can cartridge it ).
– 18% more powerful than the 7.62×39 at 300m (thanks to the higher ballistic coefficient of the new .308″ of 125gr).
– Excellent precision, of the order of a minute of angle, including in subsonic.
– Usable up to 550m in supersonic (200m in subsonic and well beyond if the scope allows it) with the 9.5″ barrel.
