GEISSELE SUPER DUTY 10.3”
Bill Geissele is an American manufacturer initially renowned for its exceptional match handguards and triggers. He then became a full-fledged arms manufacturer. He succeeded in the feat of producing parts usually intended for competition but so robust that they were adopted by the American army for the M4 and the M16. These adoptions relate to its match trigger, its MK16 handguard, its ambidextrous ACH cocking lever, and several versions of its scope mounting.

His AR-15 Super Duty features an upper close to the URG-I conversion adopted by the USArmy Special Operation Command. It has even been improved by the use of a better breech/carrier assembly described below (while the URG-I uses the original breech of the M4 or M16) and also from an aesthetic point of view because the external anti-rotation lugs present on the MK16 handguard sold separately have been replaced by a solid lug that engages in a machined notch on the top of the receiver (this remains compatible with any handguard hand for AR-15).

The Geissele bolt head is forged and then machined from Carpenter 158+ steel (usually this part is made from Carpenter 158 and not pre-forged). This method of manufacture, rare for this part, makes it possible to obtain a resistance 5 times higher than a MilSpec M4 cylinder head (6,000 to 10,000 rounds approximately), i.e. a life expectancy of between 30,000 and 50,000 rounds, which is exceptional for a centerfire semi-automatic rifle. It is HPT/MPI: tested at high pressure then controlled by magnetic particle inspection. It also has a Nanoweapon* coating (note: Carpenter 158+, developed for Geissele by Carpenter Technology, is an improvement of Carpenter 158 which is classified as strategic steel in the USA).

Thanks to their robustness and excellent ergonomics, the MK16 handguard and the ambidextrous Geissele ACH (Airborne Charging Handle) cocking lever have been adopted by the USASOC (USArmy Special Operation Command, the ground branch of the USSOCOM) for the URG-I (Upper Receiver Group – Improved) conversion which is now used by US Army special units.

The hard chromed barrel is manufactured by cold hammering by Geissele which has 2 machines of this type. Few manufacturers manufacture their barrels themselves and even fewer cold-hammered models.

Geissele therefore manufactures almost all of the component parts of its rifle with the exception of polymer accessories, screws and springs.

* GEISSELE NANOWEAPON (also known as Picatinny DSL – Durable Solid Lubricant): coating exclusive to Geissele, developed by ARDEC. It is a durable solid lubricant applied at low temperatures so as not to alter the properties of the metal. Its hardness is close to synthetic diamond. It provides great protection against corrosion and wear.
