Description
SAMSON floating handguard for M4/M16, equipped with 4 Picatinny rails.
It attaches to the military barrel nut (the flange is tightened by 4 BTR screws, not directly in the aluminum but in self-locking stainless steel helicoils).
The underside disassembles with a captive cross pin similar to the quick release pins on the M4 or M16. Then a translation of a few millimeters forwards makes it possible to disengage the tenons from the mortises of the upper part (initially planned for the M203 this also makes it possible to access the barrel for maintenance, something impossible with the handguards of a part, in particular if a fixed or folding front sight-fret is kept on the barrel).
Integrated anti-rotation cleats.
Matt black anodized aircraft aluminium.
From top to bottom :
Both SDI XR15 Commandos are identical and sport an 11.5″ (1:9″) chrome/molybdenum steel barrel.
The first is equipped with a floating SAMSON STAR-C rail which, compared to the original handguard, offers 4 additional picatinny rails to the one naturally located under the aiming handle (Flat-Top – not visible).
The SAMSON STAR-C rail has the dimensions required to replace the original polymer handguard.
Offering no surface contact with the barrel; this hand guard is said to be floating.
A clever mechanism allows the lower part to be removed for the M203 attachment or for maintenance purposes.
The set thus constitutes a scalable shooting platform accompanying the needs of the shooter and the terrain.
